A Special Christmas Concert for Leukaemia Care
Now enjoying an active retirement, David is dedicated to giving something back, having previously raised over £1,700 by running the London Landmarks Half Marathon. Today, he is channeling his creative energy into this year's Christmas music and community performances.
Audiences will have several opportunities to hear the choir this festive season. In addition to local appearances including the Carnforth Switch-On Event (Friday 4 December) and the Carol Service at Carnforth Christ Church (Sunday 20 December), the choir's major seasonal highlight will be their upcoming Christmas Concert:

The centerpiece of the afternoon is a brand-new Christmas Cantata composed by David specially for the Carnforth and District Choral Society—praising a choir that "inspires him with their commitment and enthusiasm." Telling the traditional Nativity story through a series of readings followed by moving choral reflections with words by Paul Glass, the piece holds an extra significance: David has generously waived all royalties in favour of direct donations to Leukaemia Care.

As Musical Director of the Carnforth and District Choral Society, Dr David Lamper brings a deeply personal perspective to this season’s festive performances.
A survivor of Hairy Cell Leukaemia—diagnosed first in 2003 and again following a relapse in 2010—David’s journey is a testament to the incredible advancements in medical research.
Reflecting on how a similar diagnosis in the 1980s (when his wife Carolyn trained as a doctor) would have had a very different prognosis, David is profoundly grateful to the researchers, doctors, and healthcare professionals who enabled him to make a full recovery.
